Gus Yearsley
Treasurer - Hobart, Australia (HBA)
I am Gus Yearsley, Coordinating Chaplain at Hobart Airport in Tasmania, Australia. Ours is a small airport and we now have a team of six part-time chaplains, after starting the service in 2018.
Three of us attended part of the IACAC Conference in Melbourne in 2019, and then I attended Heathrow in 2022 and Frankfurt in 2024. I joined the IACAC Board as Treasurer in 2023. My wife and I have three adult children, one currently living in Sydney and two in London. The IACAC network is inspiring to me and I love to hear stories about chaplaincy happenings from across the globe. This is particularly important to us in Hobart as the airfield and terminal are being upgraded to facilitate direct flights from SE Asia and this will change the composition of the passengers we see. Hearing how chaplaincy works in larger airports gives us ideas for our local expression of this important ministry.
